The Responsible & Trustworthy AI SIG aims to advance research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and promote the responsible development, deployment, and governance of artificial intelligence. The SIG provides a forum for researchers, academics, and practitioners to exchange ideas, discuss emerging challenges, and explore innovative approaches to ensuring that AI systems are ethical, transparent, fair, accountable, secure, and aligned with societal values.

Advancing Research for AI That Benefits Society

Artificial Intelligence is reshaping science, industry, government, and everyday life at an unprecedented pace. As AI systems become increasingly integrated into critical decision-making processes, ensuring that they are trustworthy, ethical, transparent, accountable, secure, and aligned with human values has become one of the defining challenges of our time.

The Responsible & Trustworthy AI Special Interest Group (SIG) provides a collaborative platform for ICTO researchers, faculty members, doctoral students, and academic partners who are committed to advancing the scientific foundations and practical implementation of responsible AI.

Our mission is to foster interdisciplinary research and knowledge exchange that enables the development of AI systems that are not only innovative and high-performing but also reliable, explainable, fair, privacy-preserving, robust, and socially responsible.

Our Objectives

The SIG aims to:

  • Advance high-quality research on Responsible and Trustworthy AI across diverse application domains.

  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers in computer science, engineering, social sciences, law, ethics, public policy, healthcare, business, and other related fields.

  • Promote the development of AI systems that are transparent, explainable, fair, accountable, robust, secure, and respectful of human rights and societal values.

  • Encourage collaboration between academia, industry, and public institutions to address real-world challenges through responsible AI innovation.

  • Facilitate joint research projects, international collaborations, and funding opportunities.

  • Share emerging scientific advances, methodologies, datasets, tools, and best practices through seminars, workshops, webinars, and technical discussions.

  • Contribute to international standards, policy discussions, and governance frameworks that support the responsible adoption of AI technologies.

  • Support early-career researchers and doctoral students by providing networking opportunities, mentorship, and collaboration on research initiatives.
